PlastIndia growing in stature

Over 1300 companies converged on New Delhi in early February for the 2012 PlastIndia exhibition. India’s leading plastics industry exhibition, and a growing force in the broader Asian exhibition calendar enjoyed its largest event yet.

Although polymer demand has more than doubled in the past 10 years to around 7 million metric tons, plastics consumption in India is still in its early stages compared with the more developed markets around the world. Indian consumption per capita is at around 5-6kg, whereas US is over 100kg and China and Brazil sit at around 30kg.

However with its massive population and growing economy plastics demand is already growing at over 12% per annum and set to continue growing for many years to come.
